Decorated Platter

This Platter is very simple and easy to make.
We can use this platter as Aarathi plate, Flower basket, Rings platter or any way we want.

Let's start the process,,,

Step: 1
Items Needed,
1. Thick Cardboard
2. Cloth (Any color, any design)
3. Glue
4. Scissors
5. Ribbon (any color)
6. Cooker Gasket
7. Pencil
8. One Button or Kundan

Step: 2

Take the cloth and cut into 1 inch width wise.
Cut the cloth as much you needed.
Take the Gasket and apply glue for some part on all the sides. Do not apply glue for the full gasket. It will be difficult for you to hold.
Stick one edge of the cloth on the gasket and then continue to roll at the same distance. Roll the cloth tightly.
Once you reach the end point of the cloth apply some glue to the cloth and let it stick properly. Take other piece of cloth, apply some glue to one edge and place it exactly on top of first cloth ending. Continue the rolling carefully. Apply glue wherever you needed.
If you have a lengthy cloth, then you can roll at a stretch.
Once you reach the end point apply some glue to the edge and stick it. End point should not be visible. make sure it comes on the inside.
Keep it aside and let it dry for sometime.
Let's not call it gasket anymore since we gave it a new look. Let's call it as ring.

Step: 3

Take the ring and place it on the cardboard and draw an outline with the pencil. By using scissors cut the cardboard in round shape. Make sure it should be exact round shape.

Place that round card on the cloth and draw an outline by leaving 1 inch in all the way. Cut the cloth along that circle. It is fine, even if you don't get exact round piece of cloth. Place the cardboard on top of cloth and put it exactly at the center. Let's not disturb the position. With the scissors cut that extra cloth towards the center by leaving 1 inch gap.
See the image carefully.

Once we are done with cutting, apply glue to the cardboard and start fixing the extra cloth as shown in the picture. Let it dry for sometime.
Make one more exactly like this.

Step: 4
Looks like our ring dried completely.
Take any color ribbon, attach one end to the ring by using glue and then start rolling. No need to apply glue through out the ribbon. Roll the ribbon at the same distance.
Once you reach the end point, apply some glue and attach it.

Cut 3 ribbon pieces with 4 inch length. Take 1 piece of ribbon, hold at the center and bring the two edges to the center. Do the same thing with other two ribbons. Place them as shown in the picture and stitch them at the center with needle and thread. Place any opposite color button or kundan at the center and then stitch it.

Apply glue at any point on the ring and place this flower on the glue and hold it for sometime to stick completely. If you want you can make some more flowers and attach them.
If you have any other flower, Instead of this you can place it.

Step: 5
Mean while our base also dried completely. Apply glue around the edges and place the ring properly on top of it. Press it gently. If needed place some weight on top of it.

Step: 6
Now take the 2nd round base which we made in step 3.
Place it as shown in the picture and apply glue to the full base and place the platter from step 5 on top of it. Press it gently.
Now the bottom of the base also looks perfect and also it gives double support, since we are using cardboard.
Put some pressure on top of it. I kept this under the bed for couple of hours until they attached together properly.

Our Simple and Elegant Decorated Platter is ready.

I guess, next time you will not throw your spoiled gasket ;)

Silk Thread Rakhi

Rakhi symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well-being, and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her.
Today let's make rakhi for the brothers 👨.
This is very simple and easy process. Even kids can try under their parents supervision.

Let's start the process,,,,

Step: 1

Items needed,
1. Silk thread (any color)
2. Lace (around 30 cm)
3. Glue
4. Beads for decorating (any kind)
5. Scissors.
 Step: 2

Take the silk thread and roll it to any bottle. Roll the thread as many times as you want. I did not count the number of times I have rolled. You can roll the thread to anything, like to your fingers or to any cardboard piece. Make sure to roll evenly.
Once you are done with the rolling, slowly take out the the thread from the bottle.

📌 You can take any color thread.
📌 If you want small Rakhi, roll the thread to small bottle.

Step: 3

Hold at the center and make a twist.
Take a piece of thread and make very tight knots at the center. So that the threads will not come out.
By using scissors cut both the edges as shown in the picture.

Step: 4

Bring all the threads to one side and hold at the center. Trim all the edges, then the threads will become even ✂️. Cut the edges in a circular way. So that, the rakhi will come in round.
Don't cut too much.

Step: 5

After Trimming the edges, hold vertically at the center knot and spread top threads evenly in all sides. Place this part on the floor. Now evenly spread the threads of the other half. Press and hold at the center and smoothly comb the threads with your fingers.
If the threads are uneven, just trim that part and make it even.

Step: 6

Now the decorating time ⌚️
Apply some glue at the center and place any kundan or beads. Let it dry for couple of minutes .

Now apply some more glue all the way outside of that kundan. Now take small beads and place them around the kundan. You can use toothpick for placing the beads.
Let it dry for sometime . Do not disturb at all.
The main part of the rakhi is done. It will look like this.

📌 If you want you can decorate it even more.

Step: 7

Now take the lace and place it horizontally. The lace should be same color as the thread color (If you want, you can use any color lace). Apply generous amount of glue at the center and spread it little.

Looks like the decoration we did got dried properly.
Take the center piece and place it on the glue. Press gently at the center and then in all the sides.
Allow it to dry for some time .

Here it is,,, Our own hand made rakhi is ready.

I know, now you must be so excited to tie this beautiful rakhi to your Loving brother. After all You made this specially for him.

Star Shaped Candle Holder

Diwali is coming. This festival is colorful with diyas, crackers, flowers etc ,,,
We will make it even more colorful with our crafts.

Lets start the process,,,,,,

Step: 1

Items needed:

1. Papers

2. Thin stick
3. Ruler
4. Glue
5. 2 Acrylic Paints(1 dark & 1 light)
6. Paint Brushes

Step: 2

Take one paper, place the stick at one corner and start rolling. Once you reach the end, apply some glue and stick it. Separate the stick from the roll.

Step: 3

You will need 10 rolls like this for one candle holder.

Step: 4

Take two rolls. Apply very little glue to one roll, at one end. Insert this into other roll. In this procedure, whenever you need to join the rolls, do this way. Don't attach them outside.

Step: 5

Take the roll which we made in Step 4 and measure 5 inch. Fold the roll five times with this measurement. Because star has 5 sides.
You can change this measurement as per your candle size.

Step: 6

Make a star shape like this. Apply some glue at one end & join the edges. Make sure your star is in proper shape.

Step: 7

Take one roll and attach this to one corner. Start rolling this to all the corners as shown in the pictures. If you are out of roll, join the rolls as i said in step 4 and continue rolling.
If you covered all the corners once, then you have completed 1 round. Repeat the process an make 4 rounds. Make sure you are giving enough and equal space in all the sides and in all the rounds.

Step: 8

If you have excess roll after completing 4 rounds, cut the excess part. Apply some glue at the edge. Attach this edge to the back side of the star. Hold it for a minute or until it get stick.

Your star will look like this.

Step: 9

Place your candle at the center of the star and check.
If it is not fitting at the center, slowly adjust the sides and make some space.

Step: 10

Take dark color paint in a tray and add few drops of water if needed. Dip the brush in the paint and start painting evenly. I didn't paint on the back side. I did only in the visible areas.

Don't worry this is not much messy. Keep it aside and give some time to dry.

You can stop at this point or if u want you can decorate it more.
I want to do some more painting.

Take other color paint and put some dots randomly or in any order.
Instead of dots you can draw lines as well.
If you have powder glitters, you can sprinkle it when the base color is slightly wet. Let it dry for sometime.

Here it is,,,,

Our Star shaped Candle Holder is ready.

I made some more in different colors.
After festival you can use these as a wall decor by arranging them in some pattern.

!!!! Wishing you all a Happy & Safe Diwali !!!!
